Career Opportunity: Chief Statistical and Information Analyst, Research and Economic Analysis Department

The Central Bank of Barbados is seeking to fill a post of Chief Statistical and Information Analyst, Research and Economic Analysis Department.

Job Summary

To provide operational and technical support to the Bank’s data management utilising modern business analytics and database management technology and other relevant data management software

Key Duties and Responsibilities

The duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinating the implementing and maintenance of the Central Bank’s SQL based data warehouse.
  • Designing and developing new statistical databases and coordinating the training and development of the statistical staff in the relevant information technology
  • Maintaining and upgrading current databases
  • Preparing guideline manuals for the relevant information technology
  • Supervising staff assigned to the implementation, development and maintenance of the software housing the statistical databases
  • Undertaking active research pertaining to the development and use of the latest statistical techniques and data management software
  • Assisting in the production of reports, analysing publications produced within the Bank through enhanced automation.
  • Maintaining technical and professional competence by participating in domestic, regional and international conferences and by reviewing and writing technical papers as required
  • Contributing to executive team by accomplishing any other duties as assigned
Education/Experience
  • A post-graduate degree in Economics, Statistics or in a related discipline and an appropriate qualification in Information Technology (preferably at the first degree level)
  • At least two (2) years’ experience in an information technology and/or economic environment
  • Proficiency in database, word processing, spreadsheet, econometric and statistical applications

Establishes and maintains collaborative working relationships with all members of staff, representatives of national, regional and international agencies and the general public.
