The Central Bank of Barbados is profoundly saddened by the passing of Harold Hoyte.
Hoyte, a distinguished journalist and prolific writer, served two terms as a member of the Central Bank’s Board of Directors: first from 2009 to 2011 and immediately thereafter from 2011 to 2014.
Acting Deputy Governor Michael Carrington said, “As a Board Member, Hoyte understood the weight of the responsibility of his role and was always fully engaged in his work with the Board. He was resolute in his ideals and took a no nonsense approach to governance.”
“As a man, he was warm, easy-going, and had a laugh that came from deep within,” Carrington commented further.
The Bank and the country will miss him.
We extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and former colleagues.
