Regional Business Leaders to Headline the August Caribbean Economic Forum

Three prominent regional businessmen will come together to discuss “Transitioning the Private Sector” in the upcoming edition of the Central Bank of Barbados’ Caribbean Economic Forum, which takes place Thursday, August 5, at 8:00 p.m. (7:00 p.m. in Jamaica).

They are Adam Stewart, Group Executive Chairman of Sandals Resorts International; Anthony Ali, Chief Executive Officer of Goddard Enterprises Limited.; and Anthony N. Sabga III, Group Chief Executive Officer of the Ansa McAl Group of Companies.

“We need the private sector to create jobs and wealth for people, and to innovate so that as a region we increase our competitiveness,” explained Central Bank Governor Cleviston Haynes. “As we continue to discuss the way forward for regional economies, we felt it important to gather industry leaders from across the Caribbean to determine how we can accelerate growth and foster sustainable development in the region.”

“We have chosen panellists, who, based on their experience and  business ventures, can offer insight on how  the Caribbean private sector can help boost economic activity in countries that are under  pressure from the pandemic. We therefore encourage everyone to tune in to the discussion and to use the opportunity to pose any questions they may have to our guests.”

“Transitioning the Private Sector” will be livestreamed on the Central Bank of Barbados’ website, Facebook page, and YouTube channel. It will be the third event in the 2021 edition of the Caribbean Economic Forum. Previous discussions focused on the role of institutions in creating strong economies and the need to put people at the centre of development in the Caribbean.
