Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Barbados, Michelle Doyle, is participating in the Joint International Monetary Fund-Banco Central del Ecuador Regional Central Bank Governance Forum in Quito, Ecuador. The event, taking place from April 2 to 4, 2025, brings together senior central bank officials from across the Western Hemisphere to discuss critical issues related to executive management structures and governance.
Doyle will be a featured panellist in a session on Thursday titled "Executive Management in Central Banks: Structures and Challenges," alongside Wouter Bossu , Deputy Division Chief, IMF; Guillermo Avellán, General Manager, Banco Central del Ecuador, and Róger Madrigal López, Governor, Central Bank of Costa Rica.
The session will explore the various models of executive management in central banks across the region and examine the challenges that arise from governance structures that allocate executive responsibilities across executive boards, board chairs, governors, and general managers. It will also highlight strategies to foster unified and effective executive management while mitigating the risk of fracture.
Doyle’s participation underscores the Bank’s commitment to strong governance practices and international collaboration in shaping effective policy frameworks. Through engagements like this, the Bank continues to contribute to regional discussions on financial stability and institutional leadership.
