Six local organisations – the Autism Association of Barbados, the Ermine Holmes Community Trust, the HIV Food Bank, the Men’s Empowerment Network, the Salvation Army, and the Young Women’s Christian Association – recently received donations from the Central Bank of Barbados to assist with their various causes.
Speaking during a presentation to hand over the funds, Deputy Director of Communications and Outreach Sherri Bishop affirmed the Bank’s commitment to supporting worthwhile initiatives and the organisations that drive them, saying “Throughout the year, we contribute through charitable donations, support for the arts and artists, and in many other meaningful ways, because we recognise the importance of building stronger communities.”
She added that with many charities working to create a joyful experience for vulnerable members of society during the Christmas season, “We are proud to play a role in making a positive impact and bringing a little happiness during this special time of year.”
The Bank official thanked each group for all that they do to assist the vulnerable and contribute to society, saying “Your work is invaluable, and we are honoured to support your efforts.”
