The Central Bank of Barbados is seeking to fill the vacant post of Maintenance Supervisor, Facilities Management Department.
Job Summary:
The successful candidate will supervise the day-to-day work of assigned maintenance staff and assist with the upkeep and maintenance of all support systems, including electrical, electronic, mechanical, A/C and chemical systems and environmental health standards in all of the Bank’s properties.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to:
- Assisting with the scheduling and supervision of the maintenance of all facility and computer based systems, to provide a continuous supply of water, power and air conditioning
- Advising of technical problems encountered and providing insightful recommendations and solutions
- Participating in project management, assisting with the development of health, safety and environmental policies and procedures for the Bank’s properties and ensuring adherence to established policies
- Interacting with technical personnel associated with contractors, consultants and other service providers so that services are properly executed and liaising with employees, tenants, in-house staff and the general public to facilitate the accomplishment of the department’s objectives
- Compiling, preparing and analysing reports and time records including data gathered to track maintenance projects’ status and personnel
- Monitoring the supply of inventory and equipment and assisting with the management of expenditure
- Supervising reporting staff, reviewing performance and providing or recommend training as required
- Contributing to team effort by accomplishing other job-related results as needed
Education/Experience:
A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic, or related discipline and at least five (5) years’ experience in multi-discipline facilities management inclusive of managing or supervising technical teams
Experience with Electronic Security Systems would be an asset

The successful candidate must have:

- Extensive working knowledge of building management systems, including but not limited to, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, construction and general maintenance and repairs
- Knowledge of safety rules and hazards and application of accident prevention measures associated with maintenance procedures and involving the operation of maintenance equipment
- Familiarity with the provisions of ADA, EPA and OSHA and other standards, practices, materials and methods used in maintenance. Must also be knowledgeable of the Draft Building Code, the National Fire Code (NFPA), the Uniform Electrical Code, the Uniform Mechanical Code and Elevator Codes
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and good working knowledge of computer applications used within the Facilities Management environment
Other Requirements:
He/She must have the affinity for any or all of following:
- Large scale Chiller AC Systems, Building Management Systems, Electronic Security Systems, Generators and Switch Gear
- Knowledge of the handling and storage of dangerous chemicals
- Willingness to carry out work at above normal heights
- Availability to work outside of normal working hours
- Possession of a valid driver’s licence
Working Conditions:
- Moderately heavy physical activity with a requirement to stand, walk or sit uncomfortably for extended periods. There will also be a requirement to push, pull, lift or carry medium to heavy weights throughout building areas. There may also be moderate exposure to chemicals, heat, fiberglass dust, noise and fumes incidental to a stationary engineering environment
- Some level of stress will exist due to emergency response demands, troubleshooting and the 24-hour maintenance demands in some situations
Compensation:
Salary and benefits, including Group Life Insurance, Group Medical Insurance and Pension will be in accordance with the Bank’s policy.
