Bondholders have started to receive early refunds of securities restructured in 2018.
Today, the Central Bank of Barbados confirmed the start of repayments to certain categories of Series B bondholders, up to $17,500. Also, the Bank assured customers querying the status of their payment advices, updated statements, and cashflow schedules that they will receive them soon.
The Series B bonds were to mature by 2033. However, the government announced in its 2023 budget that it would make an unscheduled partial principal prepayment of up to $17,500 to eligible Series B bondholders by end-April because of a better-than-anticipated outturn in the fiscal year 2022-2023.
