Bank Names New Deputy Governor

The Bank today announced the appointment of Harold Codrington as Deputy Governor, effective March 1, 2011.

Codrington brings superb credentials and vast experience to the post, having served at the Bank for close to 32 years, many of which were spent in a senior management position.

He has held the posts of Economist, Senior Economist, Technical Assistant to the Canadian Executive Director for Canada and the Caribbean at the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Deputy Director, Research Department and Adviser to the Governor.

As Adviser, he is also responsible for the Communications Unit and is coordinator of the Bank's initiatives in relation to the Financial Stability Board (FSB).

Codrington has also acted as Bank Secretary.

Commenting on his promotion, the newly-appointed Deputy Governor said: " I will do my best to justify the confidence that the Bank has placed in me."

An avid researcher and technocrat, he has produced some 20 scholarly articles for local ,regional and international publications.

He's currently documenting the history of the Ban?k.

Codrington holds a BSc. in Economics from the University of the West Indies and an MA in Economics from York University.

He replaces Dr. Daniel Boamah who retired at the end of 2010.

The new Deputy Governor enjoys sports, reading, relaxing with friends and collecting coins, as well as banknotes and stamps.

He and his wife, Dolores, are the proud parents of three children.
