Mr. Calvin Springer assumed the duties of Accountant with the Central Bank of Barbados on December 4,1972. Before joining the Bank, he was employed in the Civil Service where he served in the Auditor General’s and Accountant General’s Departments before being promoted to the post of Chief Accountant, Ministry of Finance in 1970.
A Fellow of the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants, he received his training in the United Kingdom where he attended Thurrock Technical College, Grays, Essex and Walthamston Technical College and School of Art.
Mr. Springer served as Accountant at the Central Bank of Barbados from 1972 – 1984. On January 1, 1985, he was promoted to Director, Operations. Later, on January 1, 1990, he was promoted to Deputy Governor, Operations and on September 15, 1992, he was appointed Governor, a position he held until September 14, 1997.
