The Central Bank of Barbados was founded in 1972. Prior to 1973, Barbados’ currency was issued by various organizations/entities. Today, The Central Bank issues banknotes in 6 denominations: 2; 5; 10; 20; 50; and 100 Dollar notes.

Coins

The Central Bank of Barbados’ numismatic programme begun in 1973 when the Franklin Mint of Pennsylvania produced an eight-coin proof set for the Bank.
